Salt water, warm sauna, cold air. Repeat. 🌊 Cold bathing isn’t a trend in Helsingborg. It’s a 150-year-old habit. Locals have been walking out over the Öresund in all weathers since the 1800s, and in 2024 the Swedish cold-bathing tradition was added to Sweden’s national list of intangible cultural heritage. At @kallishbg right in the city centre, you’re part of a tradition dating back to 1865. Fifteen minutes’ walk north along the shore, the yellow huts of @palsjobaden have stood on their stilts since 1912. The ritual is simple: heat up in the sauna, take the steps down into the sea, and come back up with your whole body awake. Then sit by the window and watch the ferries cross to Denmark. Kronborg Castle is right there on the other side. Autumn and winter are the best time to try it. The water is cold, the light is low and golden, and the sauna feels even better.
