Today we welcome the Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to Helsingborg and beautiful Sofiero castle. 👑🌸 The royal couple will attend the unofficial dinner for participants of the NATO meeting this evening. But the connection between the Swedish royal family and Sofiero goes far beyond today. It all began in 1864, when Prince Oscar and Sophia of Nassau first visited Helsingborg and fell in love with the stunning views, lush ravines and the close connection to Denmark. Over the years, Sofiero evolved into one of Sweden’s most beloved royal summer residences, shaped by generations of royals and a lasting passion for gardens and nature ✨ Sweden’s former King Gustaf VI Adolf remained deeply devoted to Sofiero throughout his life. When he passed away in 1973, he donated the castle to the city of Helsingborg with one important wish: that the gardens would remain open for everyone to enjoy this extraordinary place 🌿 Carl XVI Gustaf himself spent many wonderful summers at Sofiero, and we hope tonight’s dinner will be a cherished return to a place filled with memories.
